How long have you been established? Do your handymen come with all the right tools?
Yes each handyman has his own tools which are suitable for all jobs. What are your charges?
Our charges vary according to the skill level required in any particular job. In general we charge no more than £35 for the first hour then £25 for the subsequent hours. We have to charge a MINIMUM of 2 hours per job due to traveling (£60), so think of some of those extra annoying jobs before you book us to get the best value for money. Parking in central cities is charged on top at cost. Evening and Saturday work is charged at a 30% premium. Sundays and bank holidays are charged at a 50% premium. We offer fixed price work and can work to estimates if you prefer. Some customers feel nervous about paying by the hour and we understand that, so just tell us how you want to play it before we start.
Does this include materials?
This includes basic materials like screws, wall plugs, adhesives, nails etc but not other materials like wood, plumbing parts, plasterboard etc. These are all charged as extras. We can give you a price for materials before we acquire them if you prefer. Are you insured?
Yes, we carry £2m of public liability insurance. How much do you charge for an estimate?
Nothing, we offer free estimates. We can usually give you a good idea on the phone but on larger jobs it is best if we visit your home or business to give you an accurate estimate. How quickly can you come out?
This can vary but usually within a few days. Sometimes we can come that day if we have had a cancellation so it is always best to check availability. Do you offer a 24hr service?
Our normal hours are 8am to 6pm but we can arrange for any hours should you need them. This is down to separate negotiation on prices. Do you work weekends?
Yes, we work Saturdays and charge a 30% premium over our usual rates. Sundays carry a 50% premium as do bank holidays. Are you Part P registered?
We do not take on any electrical work other than changing sockets, switches and pendants. If you need electrical work doing then an electrician is needed. By law, in kitchens and bathrooms, all electric work must be carried out by a Part P registered contractor. We can arrange subcontractors should you need one. This may be subject to an arrangement fee. Please enquire. Are you CORGI registered?
No. All gas work must be carried out by professional CORGI registered contractors. We do not get involved with this work at all but we can arrange subcontractors should you need one. This may be subject to an arrangement fee. Please enquire. How can you be sure that your handymen are up to scratch?
Our handymen have been vetted by us. We have seen their work and know what they are comfortable with. They know that if you are not happy then you will tell us, and this in turn will reflect badly on themselves. Will I have to wait in all day for your handyman to show up?
It is a question of personal choice. You can leave instructions and a key or be in to tell your handyman exactly what it is you need. Usually our clients stay at home so they can dictate the height that a mirror is to be hung at etc. If you have a slot booked we stick to it, and, if we are delayed, we will call you straight away. How big a job can you take on?
No job is too small and not many jobs are too big. We are happy to take on a one hour job right up to a job lasting a couple of days. Anything above that then we would refer you to our sister company D E S : R E S, who specialise in larger renovation jobs. Where do you work?
We currently operate in Leeds, Bradford, Ilkley, Skipton, York, Ripon, Harrogate, Wetherby and Wakefield. We are intending on rolling out all over the country so watch this space. What about payment?
We accept cash, cheque or bank transfer. We ask that your bill is settled the day after the work has been done. Do you do office work?
Yes. Office work is our bread and butter. We are keen to grow this side of the business and are on the lookout for contracts. |
